Barnes VOR-TX Safari Ammo — 60 Second Review

The big bull was not impressed, staring us down, facing us. What’s the next move for both parties?

This is not a great position to be in, but that’s where we found ourselves as the light is fading and neither the bull nor us seems to want to back down. Luckily my rifle is loaded with Barnes VOR-TX Safari loads, and with my .375 H&H Magnum aimed directly under his chin I have complete confidence in the 300-grain TSX bullet to deal the death I’m about to deliver.

Whether it is an old Dugga boy in the Mozambique bushveld or massive water buffalo in the remote flood plains of Australia’s Northern Territory, the last thing on your mind should be your ammunition. With a variety of calibers from .375 H&H Magnum to the 40s, all the way up to the high test .500 Nitro Express you can find some loads that will put your mind at rest as you slide the safety off, take a deep breath and squeeze the trigger on your dream animal.

I’ll be headed to both locations this year for what I refer to as work, the hosted Outrider Adventure trips and have been nerding out on ballistics for a custom dangerous game rifle build that’s been bouncing around in my head (stay tuned). I have narrowed it down to either the .416 Rem Mag or the .458 Win Mag. I might lean towards the .458 Win with a few options from 400-grain up to 500-grain bullets to give me some flexibility based on the hunts and animals.

Don’t overthink the easy stuff. Buy quality ammo from trusted sources and put the extra energy into training for that one opportunity that might be your last if you F it up.
