Questions by not-so-anonymous Instagram users. Answers by Jason Vincent.
Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like, insult us if you please, just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s Onlyfans page.
*If you are assigned laps, these are not optional—all laps are mandatory and need to be filmed and sent to the Field Ethos Instagram account upon completion. Lap distance is arbitrary, only you know the full weight of your stupidity. Go the distance that feels right.
Enjoy.
Q: Would RFK woop my ass?
A: @grenda89, probably not. He’s likely stronger than you, but you’ve been hardened by the elements on your lifelong quest for dick. (Adam sells wolf dick bones. Seriously.)
Q: What hunt is on your horizon you’re most looking forward to?
A: There’s a hunt we’re doing next month that we can’t talk about until we’re back. Should be one of the more unique things we could show our readers.
Australia in October with @geoffrowley @kevinbrittingham @dave.costarella and our resident F35 pilot (unnamed). Very much looking forward to it.
Q: Chances the RFK is Trump’s CIA director?
A: Basically zero. If you listen to RFK’s speech, he says exactly what he wants to work on and it’s a perfect way for him to make a difference.
I’d like to nominate myself as ambassador to Mozambique -this is what we should all be talking about.
Q: Any fair chase Texas deer hunting recs?
Q: Know of any options to mount RMR to Ruger M77?
A: I don’t know of any good reasons to do this and apparently Ruger agrees. If nobody makes a product you want, it often means you shouldn’t want it.
Q: Curious if baboon ever makes it on the plate or if that’s a shoot it and leave it species?
A: It’s a spot, shoot, set up poses, occasionally cut the head off for taxidermy thing. Similar to pig hunting. It’s more of a control measure than a hunt, but the skulls are very cool.
Any person who eats one is vile.

Q: Thriller novel—not Jack Carr or Greaner…read those already.
A: Vince Flynn. They’re the best books in this genre.
Q: Any good adventures in Fiji besides diving?
A: I think some of you have no idea what an adventure drinking with your friends can be.
Q: Why does my Mormon hunting buddy keep drinking all my beer in elk camp?
A: See. Even the friggin Mormon gets it.
Q: Diving knife recommendations?
A: It seems like anyone who has to ask this question is probably going to just wear it in a swimming pool anyway.
Take 4 pool laps.
Q: .460 S&W worth the extra punch vs .44 mag. for handgun hunting bear?
A: For black bear, probably not. They’re not known for being very bullet-resistant.

Q: Any collaborations with Poncho shirts coming?
A: Charlie, please want the office for bugs before we have any further conversations in there.
Q: Q x FE Mega Fix collaboration in the works?
A: Nope. It’ll happen when the rifle is ready though. Q tests the hell out of things, so we have time to come up with some ideas for this.
Q: Have you been on any international hunts where dogs are used?
A: Yes. Many.
Q: Why don’t you like to recommend Sitka?
A: Because it seems like every time a hunter buys something made by Sitka, they immediately run out to the woods and do something asinine on camera with their Sitka-wearing asinine buddies and then they make everyone in the hunting community look asinine by osmosis.
Unfortunately for Sitka, their brand has become the official camo for blending into a TikTok video.
Q: First trip to Africa next May. I’m 57. Should I wear compression socks?
A: If they help you, it couldn’t hurt. You can also hunt with Crusader Safaris and tell them you want the mildly handicapped booze-cruise hunting package. No need to drop our name, they’ll know who sent you.
Q: I’m going to apply at Q for an engineering job, what would help me stand out?
A: Defeat Nick and Mitch in combat.
Q: Best hunt location for a newbie to waterfowl hunting?
Q: Getting sober. Best NA beer recommendations?
A: Jesus would not allow me to type out laps for this today. No idea on NA beers but surely there’s a forum or something. Good luck, ahhhhhh leave me alone, Jesus.
Q: You guys going to make a fitted or flexfit cap? How comfy are the FE flippie floppies?
A: We don’t want you to have the second thing if you’re the type to wear the first thing.
Q: It’s Sunday, why are you not in church?
A: I went to church and Sunday school, so you can fuck right off.
Q: Any plans for some aviation-related stuff? Maybe I can help.
A: Here’s your audition: Get us a free Cessna Caravan to keep in Africa and a lifetime Delta 360. And then you’re hired.
Q: Vellies are out in big sizes. Restock before an Oct. SA trip?
A: Restock is on the way.
Q: Have ya’ll done any work in Africa to help with conservation and endangered animals?
A: This reminds me of a post I saw the other day of a good-looking white American woman visiting South Africa for the first time. She posted a photo of her on horseback with the caption “headed out to patrol for poachers!”
There’s a better-than-good chance her PH got laid shortly after that and there’s a 98% chance she still thinks they were really on poaching patrol.
So many American poaching experts in Africa these days…

Q: Vellies in Cape Buffalo also on the way?
A: Nope. Those will be a while.
Q: What are some of the favorite Spydercos?
A: Endura. You can stop looking there.
Q: Where to layover for a few days in Europe when flying to SA?
A: Amsterdam.
Q: When the podcast starts back up can we get Tim Wells?
A: No.
Q: Optic recommendation on Model 70 .300 Win. Mag. for Africa? Zebra, ostrich, impala, springbok, blesbuck.

Q: Unfortunate mishap with the flops after too many light beers. Could I buy a single right?
A: Absolutely not.
Q: Any whitetail hunts this fall/winter?
A: Yes. Georgia and Texas.
Q: How much should one budget for their first African plains game hunt?
A: 10-15K including flights?
Q: Will the big horn hat ever make a comeback?
A: No. When we ordered those, we were told they were made in Bangladesh. We’d sold half of them before we realized they were made in China.
China makes the best apparel in the world, but we prefer to never work with them. The only time you’ll see a made-in-China label on a FE product is if we collaborate with a company that makes their own products there.
We don’t hate the Chinese, but their government sucks. The Chinese do need to discover Viagra though. It would save a lot of rhinos.
Q: Scope recommendations for a Model 70 .375 HH for plains game to be used in TZ?
A: Leupold MK5 2-10.
Q: Need a new bottle of FE Chicken Cock soon, and the hunter orange Private Land hat.
A: We have a new Chicken Cock x FE bottle coming just in time for fall.
Q: Electronic safe lock or mechanical dial? Any recommendations?
A: Mechanical is preferred.
Q: Crossbow recommendations?
Q: I need a dangerous game name for a beaver. Coming up lame with a hippo reference.
A: Pond buffalo.
Q: Bremont watches: What’s your view?
A: Great looking watches. No experience with them. Schoby and I have been looking at them for two years.
Q: Is Bowmar secretly Omega Guy?
A: Do not insult Omega Watch Guy like that. He may be guilty of war crimes, but the punishment must fit the crime.
Q: FE x Sangin?
A: Not in the cards for now.
Q: Gentleman’s watch under 1K?
A: We have a very cool field watch in the works that will be sub 1K.
Q: Any experience with the Everest rubber straps for Rolex?
A: Nope.
Q: Looking at my first Swiss watch. Certina or Christopher Ward?
A: Zero experience with these. Tudor makes plenty of great options for your first Swiss watch.
Q: Any thoughts on Doxa watches?
A: Have heard good things but no firsthand experience.
Q: Field Ethos’ watch of choice?
A: Rolex.
Q: 17 HMR or .22 LR for the new Christensen rimfire bolt action?
A: We’re 22 LR and 22 WMR guys.
No experience with the Christensen Rimfires yet. Charlie and Jeff are on their way to Utah right now to hang with the Christensen folks for a few days. We’ll make sure they get their hands on one.
It’s great that Christensen has opened their doors to their toughest critics. They’ve been consistently proving that it’s a new company.
Q: No question: FE is amazing, carry on.
A: Mom, if this is your burner account, take a lap.
Q: Know anyone that does good work with alligator leather?
A: Teton Leather Company does the best work with all the leathers.
Q: I missed the brushstroke bench mat…which is unfortunate. Restock coming?
A: Yep. We ordered a smaller quantity as a test for the first run, and they sold out very quickly. We have them coming back soon.
Q: What’s FE opinion on adventure motorcycles?
A: I’m the only one at FE with ADV moto experience but I’m hoping to change that. I have a Yamaha Tenere 700 on the way and I’ve already made plans to ride the NWAT again next year. I’m going to lure Schoby on the trip with pre-planned stops at Wisconsin dive bars.
The rest of the crew has plenty of dirt bike experience. None of us are capable of keeping up with Wiley and we’re not going to die trying. He’s on a Yamaha WR250F these days.
Q: Should I use a tripod in Africa or use the shooting sticks provided?
A: Sticks and start practicing now. Get a set from African Sporting Creations.
Q: What’s your go-to way to prepare dove that’s not bacon wrapped?
A: It’s very good marinated, grilled, and served as an appetizer when you’re entertaining friends.
Q: Day packs you recommend for hunting?
A: Kuiu and Eberlestock.
Q: Does FE have dove opener plans? Tis the season and all.
A: Hoping to make a quick trip to Texas to hunt with @claywiatrek.
Q: If you had one international hunt for the next decade, what location and game?
A: Probably Mozambique Cap buffalo with Crusader Safaris.
