Here’s an email we received from one of our first-time writers:
Charlie,
Thanks for running my piece. My kids think I know Don Jr. now.
I was telling my wife last night about someone we know who passed away and talking about their “bloodwork.” My 12-year old son was sitting there and said that was like a story he read today on Field Ethos about a guy almost dying after eating a burrito from a gas station while he was turkey hunting. I gave him and my wife a look.
“Yeah, your son reads Field Ethos now in his reading class,” my wife said.
“I read it everyday,” he said, nonchalantly. “I don’t think Mrs. Smith minds the cuss words as long as we’re reading something we like.”
So, FE is reading (and science?) curriculum now…in a Georgia public school. I can’t imagine that lasts much longer. I’m sure there’s a parent/teacher conference in my future as well.
