Traveling for a spearfishing trip sucks—well, most trips really. Not only do you need to lug around all your dive gear, spear guns, booze, and cleverly disguised contraband, but you need it securely packaged so it doesn’t get damaged and your trip is hosed from the start.
Although they are designed for a multitude of uses, Condition 1’s 45-Inch Long Trunk changed the way I travel with spearfishing and freedive equipment. I’m no longer relegated to having to make do with bulky, two-piece cases designed for skis and snowboards. The trunk will fit two-piece spearguns, your long blade freedive fins, as well as all the other gear necessary for a serious spearfishing trip.
They are waterproof, dust proof, crash proof, have wheels, a TSA-approved air valve, and can be locked to keep your buddies from slippin’ their salamis in your snorkel. We have not only utilized them for travel, they also work well for stashing equipment in harsh environments for long periods of time. I’ve packed my trunk and dragged it all over the world, from Panama to Africa and down to the Bahamas and back—several times now. I don’t know of a better way to travel with spearfishing gear, and I won’t be changing my setup anytime soon.
I’m pretty sure I still have one of these trunks in some exotic place right now, I’ll have to figure out where I left it. But when I do, I guarantee you that gear will be pristine, and there’s no chance that anyone slipped their salami in my snorkel, pal.
