Questions by not-so-anonymous Instagram users. Answers by Jason Vincent.
Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like; insult us if you please; just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s OnlyFans page.
*If you are assigned laps, these are not optional—all laps are mandatory and need to be filmed and sent to the Field Ethos Instagram account upon completion. Lap distance is arbitrary; only you know the full weight of your stupidity. Go the distance that feels right.
Sunday Q&A

Q: When is diesel coming down from $6.50 a gallon?
A: You asked your fiancé for permission to buy an Omega watch. There’s zero chance you drive a diesel unless is an aught-six Jetta TDI. You plug your car in, I just know it. Go run four laps and don’t overcharge your shit.
Q: Will we see the Gin Shirt restocked soon?
A: Yes. Lots of restocks between now and winter.
Q: Grabbed an M70 Super Grade in .270 Win. on sale; do you recommend a certain Leupold?
Q: Hitting the road this fall—any suggested bags from Yeti?
A: The Yeti duffels and backpacks are all very heavy duty. Pick a size that works and get going.
Q: Singed “One Man In” books, please?
A: That’s a question for @christian_craighead.
Q: Any chance of getting an Outrider trip to hunt murder bears in Japan?
A: I have a standing invitation but it’s illegal for a non-resident. I’m sure Japanese prisons are actually very nice, but a shower attack by a bunch of dudes Terry’s height would be too humiliating.
Q: New 6.5 PRC on the way. Interested in Rugged for a new can. Go light with Alaskan?
A: The Rugged Alaskan Ti is an awesome hunting silencer. Our crew is using several of them.
Q: Sweet T release date?
A: Bone Handle Winkler Knives x FE Sweet Ts are coming soon.
Q: Speaking of Yeti, can we get a larger travel flask? The 7-ounce barely covers an afternoon.
A: Tape two of them together like AR mags and you’ll be flying in no time.
Q: Looking for a .30-30 Marlin or Henry?
A: Henry All Weather .30-30.

Q: What’s your top three calibers to take to the range for general shooting?
A: .22 LR, 9mm, and 5.56mm.
Q: Tips for lifting my boy’s spirits after a goose egg for his first hunt today?
A: This is exactly what beer was made for. Introduce him to Montucky Cold Snacks.
Q: Where can I find that FE SBS with the wood furniture?
A: Gallenson’s Guns.
Q: What’d the first dude do?
A: He literally asked his fiancé if it was ok for him to buy an Omega watch. He set the entire course of his marriage in the wrong direction. It’s one of the most shameful things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
Q: Bought wife a Grenadier—must-have mods to do first?
A: Leitner Designs roof rack and offset rear tire mount so you can upgrade the shoes. JV’s Build.
Q: Ride along first elk hunt. Bear spray, sidearm, optics, and lots of layers. What am I missing?
A: Please wear Meta glasses so we can all see you transition from bear spray to that sidearm while you’re shitting your pants. We need this.
Q: Henry CRUSR optic and suppressor recs?
A: Reptilia Corp Acro Mount and Aimpoint Acro. Unless you’re hunting from a deer stand, don’t put a silencer on it.
Q: Rhodie shorts in time for winter?
A: Shorts and short sleeves just in time for it to be too cold to wear them. It’s the Field Ethos way. Honestly, we’re trying, but we’re just a bunch of dudes with ADHD that like to kill things.
Q: Why “never Kimber?”
A: Not today. Go run three laps.
Q: FE Mega Fix at release?
A: Negative.
Q: Got hooked up with Gunderson’s for graduation Yacht Master for my son, thanks.
A: Gunderson’s Jewelers always comes through for the FE community. Hope the kid likes his Rolex.

Q: FE wristwatch?
A: We did a watch with Sangin Instruments. Everyone is very happy with them. We’re doing a Seiko next.
Q: Just got a Savage Model 116 in .30-06. What should I do to get the most out of it?
A: Just put some different loads through it and see what it likes. Out of the box, Savages are known for accuracy. Oh, and put a scope on it before you shoot it.
Q: Kimber 2011s ok? If not, what brand?
A: Springfield Armory Prodigy.
Q: FE knife?
A: Run two laps and then go to our website.
Q: Budget O/U CZ Wingshooter Elite or Weatherby Orion? Or something else?
A: The CZ.
Q: Is 22 inches too short for .300 WM?
A: We just released a 16-inch 300 PRC with Gunwerks and we previously released a 22-inch .300 Win. Mag. With them that sold out very fast. We prefer to go shorter and lose some velocity and alter our shot distances accordingly. Honestly, both will burn down a big-game animal past 500 yards.
Q: Just ordered an FE adventure rifle in .416 REM. What scope should I put on it?
A: EOTech Vudu 1-10.
Q: OWG eats shit weekly, which is fair, but I think too many have forgotten about Henry Rifle Guy!
A: He went dark after asking his wife for permission to buy the FE x Henry Rifles CRUSR. Smart man.
Q: Best do-it-all rifle for both hunting (deer/pigs) and defense?
A: An AR in .300 Blackout.
Q: Retiring at 53.5 in 389 days. New Land Cruiser for a year of continental U.S. adventures?
A: Wouldn’t take that squeaky brake hybrid bastard for all the rice in Japan.
Q: Can you convince Winchester to make a Model 70 in .35 Whelen?
A: We can’t convince them to do anything. Just get their Alaskan in .338 WM. It’s a very solid rig.
Q: Ran my laps. I’ll ask again, optics rec for a 5-inch 5.56 with a Dead Air can? Thinking 3X fixed.
A: Go run four more laps and see if that gets longer. The get an EOTech with a magnifier.
Q: Best current production .375 (H&H or Ruger) for about $2K?
A: Winchester Model 70 Safari Express or Model 70 Alaskan. Regardless of which model you choose the Model 70 in .375 H&H is the best production-grade .375 out there. Getting an equal new rifle for the task would cost roughly 4X the price.

Q: With the limited tags there are, should you still encourage new hunters?
A: Absolutely. Whining about net getting the tag you want will just distract you from the things you CAN hunt.
Q: Florida bear tags applied for. What rifle should I get if I’m successful?
A: FE x Henry CRUSR .45-70 is a perfect black bear rifle.
Q: Good first double rifle? Under $20K?
Q: Is rap for old people now?
A: Yes.
Q: Will you guys (FE) ever consider starting a tour guide to hunt in different parts of the world?
A: Nine laps for not paying attention. This is exactly what Outrider Adventures does.
Q: You have Cape buffalo, kudu, zebra and warthog—what mounts are you doing?
A: Shoulder, shoulder, rug, shoulder.
Q: When we getting’ Rhodie P-Mags?
A: Very soon. The Magpul x FE collaboration is Magpul’s first ever factory camo AR mag.
Q: Kilo 10K ABS Gen 2 worth the $?
A: Absolutely. Great set of rangefinding binos from SIG Sauer.
Q: What’s one discontinued gun you would like to see make a comeback?
A: CZ 550 Safari.
Q: Walther PDP Pro SD Compact or the Gen 6 Glock? Will be a glovebox gun.
A: Walther Arms PDP Pro SD. Thank us later.
Q: Wine country field report?
A: The largest winemaker in the USA came to us with a problem: wine consumption has dropped off steeply, especially among men. WE love wine so this has been a really cool mission for us. Our goal has been to bring the FE community a very good Cabernet in the $20-$25 range. We’ve been working on this for over a year and we’ve tasted all sorts of new formulations. Last week we had our final tasting of the finished product. It’s something you’ll love to drink and be proud to give as a gift. Standby for updates.

Q: Recommended optic for my FE Ditch Tiger?
A: EOTech Vudu 1-10.
Q: Which .300 BLK to choose from Daniel Defense? The ISR any good?
A: Get the Honey Badger by Q. Buy once, cry once. It’ll be your favorite.
Q: I have a .454 Casull and a .38 Special. Do I need a .357 Mag?
A: Everyone needs a Smith & Wesson .357.
