Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like, insult us if you please, just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s Onlyfans page.

Q: Best derogatory term to call someone who thinks voting doesn’t matter?

Q: Recommended sling options for SBR’s and for AR’s like my new Recce rifle?
A: Armageddon Gear slings are the move.
Q: Kudu or PNW Elk hunt?
A: Do you want to hunt six plains game animals while drinking local lagers under the hot African sun or do you want to hunt one animal in the rain for the same price? We suggest Crusader Safaris. Do the Safari first and then do the PNW hunt later.
Q: Antonio Brown x FE collab after the award he present Jr. with?
A: He’d be a solid hire to work with @the_ron_dan and @the_bret_vorhees in our Diversity & Inclusion department. @ab
Q: Stick bow kudu hunt?
A: Show up with a stick bow for kudu and your PH will be fighting mad. But if you want to go all the way to Africa to sit in a blind over an artificial water hole, you can.
Q: What makes Courtney worth the extra money over Jim Green?
A: The premium leathers and heavy-duty construction. Jim Green is still very good.
Q: 1—Team Scirocco rocks. 2—Stockpile Black Hills 5.56 or a ton of cheap crap?
A: Stockpile Black Hills.
Q: .243 enough for deer to start my nine-year-old with?
A: Yep. Aim for the lungs, kid.
Q: Any FE hosted croc/hippo hunts in Moz on the radar?
A: We’re doing a Moz hunt in either October or November 2025 and may take one or two Outrider clients with us. It’s still in the planning phase.
Q: Any updates on the S&W 1854 testing?
A: We just said last week that we’ve never shot one. Calm down. You asked your fiancé for permission to buy an Omega watch so there’s no way you’re allowed to own any bore size over 6.5mm anyway.
Q: What do you retards want to eat this weekend at the FE Ranch?
A: First of all, Cade, we don’t use a hard E. It’s ruhtard. DM The Godfather @kevin.lynch and ask him for menu suggestions. He’s very cultured, so he’ll make you put that culinary degree to use. He’ll be on the trip and will be grading you.
Q: Please address the idea that a crossbow is “archery.”
A: It shoots something with a broadhead, shaft, and fletching, so it’s archery.
It’s also the closest thing to a rifle in the archery world.
If you want to keep wounding game with pelvic and brisket shots, keep using your bow.
Bowhunting purists hate crossbows. We hate bowhunting purists (with 3-5 exceptions).

Q: Would you mind saying a few negative things about the Creedmoor? Thanks.
A: We love the round when it makes sense. Elk trying to breath for three weeks with a hole in one lung because some yahoo decided to send a 6.5 LGBTW round from 700 yards do not. Final answer.
Q: Is a 22-250 ok to go brown bear hunting with?
A: Yep. Just make sure you get really close, and you keep a note to your loved ones in your pants pocket.
Q: Buying new boots next season, what other brands should I consider along with Crispi?
A: Meindl
Q: What’s the first hunt I take my custom rifle on when finished? Lord’s Caliber of course.
A: Go do an aoudad hunt with @terry.houin and Outrider.
Q: Must-have add-ons for a Walther PDP pro for the house?
A: SureFire light, Aimpoint Acro or Trijicon RMR HD, and Hornady Critical Defense ammo.
Q: My wife has morning sickness. FE recommended treatment?
A: Just do whatever she asks you to do. Tough job.
Q: What is your opinion on Springfield 1911’s?
A: Very solid.
Q: Any recs on a camera that’s not going to break the bank to start?
A: Sony RX10 IV. We have an assortment of cameras. This model is great for still iamges and video. Around $1500.
Q: I want a second home abroad. Where else has as open guns laws as the US?
A: Nowhere unless you’re part of a rebel group in a third world country. Those guys have some cool guns.
Q: Bergara rifle thoughts?
A: Very solid.
Q: X-Bolt 1 McMillan or wait until I can find an X-Bolt 2?
A: The X-Bolt 1 is awesome. The 2 is better. You can’t go wrong with either. If you need it for this season, get the X-Bolt 1.
Q: Best crossover tripod light enough for hunting but also good for longer-range plinking?
A: Get one of the heavier-duty tripods from Spartan Precision.
Q: When flying with carry pistols, have you used Condition 1 pistol cases?
A: Yes. The Condition 1 cases are great.
Q: Will the sunglasses be polarized lenses? Also, when will Gin V2 drop?
A: Yep. The Leupold x FE Bridgers are the same as the standard Bridgers. The FE series are the only Bridger model with non-mirrored lenses.
Q: How often do you read the Bible on Sundays?
A: Every Sunday in church and weekdays via an email study from the Bible app.
Q: Top choice for a day pack/EDC gear pack?
A: Really liking the Eberlestock Switchblade. Taking it to Australia this week along with other Eberlestock travel gear. Planning to hunt camels in a Hawaiian shirt with flip flops and their fanny pack. It’s a very deadly dad style.
Q: Thoughts on Citizen?
A: Now for the highly amateur answers in the watch category…
Q: Watch mm size—personal preference/based on your wrist size?
A: 40mm or 41mm.
Q: Start a new job tomorrow. Tips? Obviously not telling them I asked permission for an Omega.
A: Don’t offer any of your grand ideas for a while. This counts as a watch question so others can be reminded of your crime.
Q: Best women’s watch?
A: The women’s watches from Tudor and Rolex are always great. @alexandrabrigham wears a Tudor.
Q: Breitling Super AVI or Superocean for first big boy watch?
A: Sure. Breitling makes a great watch.
Q: Do ceramic submariners belong in the tool watch category?
A: Sure.

A: You’re not just raising children; you’re also training future adults to live in a broken world. Never forget that.

A: He’s part of that broken world from a few clicks back. Leave him behind. You can practice while running three laps for associating with this person.

Q: Moving from Midwest whitetail country to muley and elk country. Best rifle suggestions?
A: Can’t believe I’m saying this, but a new Christensen Arms in .300 Win. Mag. is a great place to start. We were never wrong about them, they’ve just gotten way better.
