Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like, insult us if you please, just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s Onlyfans page.

Q: How did Saint Nick get mixed up with these pagan elves?
A: There was a carrying capacity issue with living quarter square footage at the North Pole so he needed midgets.
Q: How was your trip to Cobourg?
A: Cobourg Peninsula is a magical place to kill beautiful things.
Q: .300 Win. Mag. ammo recs for South Africa?
Q: Modern shooting sticks? Bog, Primos, etc.? Tri- and bipod?
Q: Will you be at DSC in Atlanta?
A: Yep. We’re right inside the main entrance. Come to Atlanta and have a drink with us.
Q: You guys talk about Leica binos, but what about their riflescopes? Any good?
A: Yes, they’re good. Their PRS scope is great.
Q: How are we liking the Grenadier?
A: Joe has two in his family, and they love them.
Q: .300 Win. Mag. vs. .300 PRC for hunting?
A: In the USA where it’s easy to find ammo, the .300 PRC is the move.
Q: Entry-level shotgun for occasional clay shooting and home defense?
A: Three laps.
Q: Should all undergarments also be camo during a hunt? Natural brushstroke.
A: You wear undergarments when you hunt? Weird.
Q: Best AR for under $1000?
A: Stag Arms are solid.
Q: Leupold Mark 4 or VX-5HD for Browning X-Bolt in .308?
A: Leupold VX-5HD.
Q: Will there be a FE style speak easy in the White House?
A: We’d rather set this up at Langley. They haven’t been drinking, smoking, or trading arms and drugs enough in the last few years. We feel like we could get them back on track.
Q: How did you convert the 8mm to digital for the last short film? Would like to do the same.
A: Wiley sends it off to be processed. I think it’s around $100 per minute of film.
Q: If, heaven forbid, you HAD to drive an electric vehicle, which one and why?
A: Tesla Cybertruck. The really fast one. If I owned a ranch in TX, I’d already have one with a high rack in the back. People can say what they want, but it’s the ultimate stealth vehicle for hunting from a truck.
Q: FE X Leupold Bridger drop imminent?
A: Yep. Coming this week.
Q: Do red dots have a place on revolvers for any discipline?
A: For hunting, sure.
Q: Is it acceptable to make a big cat into a cape or jacket instead of a rug?
A: Capes and coats are 100% in.
Q: Recommendations for a solid free-range Cape buffalo hunt?
A: Crusader Safaris in Mozambique.
Q: Coat recommendation for sitting in a treestand in freezing weather?
A: Kuiu Burner. For stationary hunting in deathly cold weather it’s the absolute best in the industry.
Q: Your favorite Christmas movie?
A: Die Hard
Q: Wife bought me a Tudor Ranger for Christmas! Keep the leather strap or go NATO strap?
A: NATO on the Ranger.
Q: Is Satan real?
A: She is. Almost 100% sure Satan is a woke white woman.
Q: Any experience with the Springfield Ronin in 10mm? Looking for a 10mm for my first 1911.
A: Get a Colt 10mm if you’re not going custom.
Q: Barrel length for suppressed .300 Win. Mag.?
A: 22 inches.
Q: FE approved chef knives?
A: Half Face Blades.
Q: Thoughts on FBI nomination?
A: He should be perfect for the job.
Q: Vans X FE collaboration ever happening?
A: Maybe, but you asked your fiancé for permission to buy an Omega watch. Please stick with the white New Balance sneakers she buys you.
Q: Best place for a red stag hunt?
A: Outrider stag in South America.
Q: When will the Poncho X FE collab be available?
A: Summer 2025.
Q: FE Baja hoodie with magazine/tall-boy pockets on the front?
A: Great idea.
Q: DSC is 99% lazy, overweight execs who are worthless in the field without a guide. Lap.
A: Actually, it’s mostly successful men who have worked hard their entire lives and have become successful enough to go on global hunting adventures where guides are legally required. Pretty sure most of them are just as good as you at sitting in a fucking deer stand. Seven laps and then fuck all the way off.
Q: Anyone over there still bow hunt?
A: We mostly bow wound.
Q: Any experience with the DualFire Recteq smoker? Time for an upgrade.
A: Nope, but there’s a Recteq Flagship 30 feet from me right now and it’s amazing. I use it all the time.
Q: Isn’t it illegal to hunt from a truck?
A: Stop worrying about the small things in life.
Q: What is your favorite month?
A: October normally, but July is ideal beer drinking weather, so it’s a very close second.
Q: I want a new whitetail rifle, factory rifle recommendations?
A: Get a Browning X-bolt 2 in .300 Win. Mag., and you’ll be all set for North American big game.
Q: Recommended 9mm pistol range ammo?
A: We signed up for the Staccato range ammo subscription a while back. We get 1000 rounds per quarter. Have not had a single issue with it. It’s very good.
Q: Jim Green vs. Courteney hunting boots.
A: Jim Green: much lighter, hold up well, huge round toe. Courteney: heavy, very tough, nicer leather, not a giant toe area. Jim Green is the better value but the Courteney is a more substantial boot.

Q: Just getting my oldest into all things outdoors (7). Ideas for adventure gifts?
A: A badass BB gun.
Q: Are products that over sponsor folks like MKC or Turtlebox actually worth the money?
A: Both are good companies. Turtlebox is a very legit product. Buy one and a Hogue knife. You might not be as cool as all the influencers carrying MKC, but we’re not as cool as them either.
Q: Need a belt for a half-inch monogrammed buckle. Vincent, you know the buckle I speak of.
A: Check out The Southern Trapper.
Q: Biden Pardoned Hunter, does that mean Don and FE can do anything for the next four years?
A: We already do whatever we want, but maybe now we’ll release our Jamaica film.
Q: Sauer 100 a worthy alternative to the X-Bolt?
A: Sure, but look at the twist rates of the barrels before you pick one up. They’re great rifles, but if you like heavier bullets, their standard European twist rates might not stabilize what you want to shoot. Shooting standard-weight bullets by caliber they will perform great.
Q: Ruger Red Label. Yes or no?
A: Yes.
Q: You think Omega guy brags to his running club about being bullied by FE every Sunday?
A: They’re still trying to figure out why they can’t keep up with him.

A: You’ll love the Barrett MRAD. We’ll be using it on the doe cull this week.
Q: Thoughts on Hunter Biden’s pardon?
A: Anyone that doesn’t understand what Joe just did doesn’t have children. Doesn’t make it right, but I understand.
Q: Best bottle to celebrate a successful bear hunt?
A: Need more info. If it’s a world-record brown bear, Pappy. If it’s a run-of-the-mill black bear, just drink a Coors.
Q: What’s your take on hunting in one’s HOA woods?
A: I’m pretty sure I’m beyond the statute of limitations on a charge for something like this, but mind your own business.
Q: Will there be a restock on the Aimpoint X FE Acro or am I SOL?
A: We’ll have another Acro collab coming, but it may be a little different in a good way.
Q: Just got my daughter a .410 over/under. Any good female shooter or hunter role models?
A: Rachel Carrie.
Q: Preference on a Submariner with or without date?
A: Preference to the no date, but they’re both great.
Q: My wife is coastal Eskimo, so what should I do with my future polar bear, rug or parka?
A: Full body mount.
